OH YES. I went to MoE today and met the higher authorities there and got to ask about my HECAS application.

GOOD NEWS: They asked me to send in my stamped certificates etcetra directly to them eventhough I have not yet been called. FYI, I have a different case, not special, just different.

Other than that, nothing out of ordinary. I am on Breaking Dawn of the Twilight Saga now. Renesmee eyh?

I want to watch Confession of a Shophoholic, or should I read the novel first?

AND then, OHHHHHHH YESSSSSSS, my good friend Gymah was called – she got the BSP Scholarship! I am so happy for her.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is coming out in July right? Sheesh. OH, speaking of it, truthfully I stopped reading Harry Potter on Book 3: Prisoner of Azkaban? Forgive me if I am wrong but I don’t really bother to check. But believe it or not, I kinda want to read everything all over again (rolled eyes).

Now back to Twilight, my personal favourite scene in Twilight – that I just realised after watching it OVER AND OVER AGAIN – is the Baseball scene! Oh mann, they all look so cool – so vampire-ish! I kinda like Jasper too despite he looks freaky since the first scene (due to the new vegetarian lifestyle – that, I know). OK OK, I will never stop talking about this Twilight Saga anytime soon – just a piece of warning.

Oh wow. Romance eyh? For the last 3 days, I have been occupying myself with… romance novels. Oh yes… never in my life that I would imagine myself being this ‘occupied’ by english novels before. But one thing for certain is that, when I am obsess with something, I ought to be persistent. Like this for example.

My sister has finally lent me her ‘Twilight’ last saturday. Yes, believed it or not, I am outdated. I don’t keep in track of movies. Anyways, so yes, I – finally – watched it. Bella Swan? …or uhm.. this Edward Cullen guy? Who was also the guy from Harry Potter, right? Who was the name again? Oh gee, I am this rusty. But I am a Harry Potter fan though, a less fanatic one. Now, now, I am off tracked. SO WHAT I WAS SAYING, I do feel all the mystery and everything but a bit unsatisfied with the plotting and ending. But I know there will be SURELY a comeback though.

SO feeling all lacking and curious, I decided to read the novels. See, I am not THAT outdated about everything – I do know that the story was based – or more correctly, derived – from a novel, Twilight by Stephenie Meyer. But what I didn’t know is that, its a series! I really regretted seeing the gist of each of the series over at Wiki. Sheesh. So yes, I finished one volume just early this afternoon and continuing myself with ‘New Moon’, the second volume. Chapter 3 made me cry. Seriously, I have never been this sensitive over a novel before, other then some shoujo mangas (giggle).

Personally, this is sort of an improvement for me. I think I get to do what I have never done before during my ‘relaxing season’. That was my aim. From sewing to papercrafting and now, spending my afternoons and evenings, sitting on the couch, READING A BOOK. I thought it was impossible. But thank goodness, I did enjoy it.

Oh uh, I am reading the e-books, not hardcovers. Well, since I can’t afford one right now. The hardcovers does looks tempting to the eyes, though. But I promised myself to buy the complete set of the series someday because its worth it. Actually, my craveness to read novels was long before I knew Twilight.

Jane Austen. I bet most, if not everybody, knows her works. I first knew about her novel when I ‘randomly’ pick it up in my college’s library. I always say: don’t pick the book by its cover. But I always, always done it everytime I went into a library. If I am not mistaken, it was blue hardcovered. I love those sorts of hardcovers with gold fillings for the titles. Old but very appealing, to me at least. I think it was “EMMA”. BUT I didn’t get to read it thoroughly, I did brought it home but didn’t have the time to actually sit down and read it. SO yes, one week passed and I returned the book back, even the dust was still there, I bet.

Then I lost the interest, not until I saw “Pride and Prejudice” playing on HBO. I grew to love it after few times watching it. These kinds of literature-related movies. Only later that I knew the movie was derived from a novel written by Jane Austen. Since then I have been searching for the DVD but still not getting any. And now I have added in my list: Becoming Jane. LIKE SHOOT. James McAvoy. OK, so irrelevant.

OK enough of that.

I think I am going to do that for quite a long time – putting up a quote for each post. Not only that I think it would be such a waste to not quote them but I also think that it does inspire me. OK, let me just continue my previous post.

There is a reason to why I talk about scholars – my scholarship is pending. Now that I think about it, I still do not know whether such thing happened due to fate or punishment, or both? The unfortunate incident goes like this: last year around October, my HEU counsellor texted me up saying that I was eligible to apply for a government scholarship to the University to Otago, New Zealand based on my predicted grades. At first I was so busy preparing for my A Level examination that I did not consider to apply at all. But when I discussed it with my parents, they encouraged me to apply for various reasons – mostly pros like the cost of living? The forex is 1:0.8. Like, wow. Plus, my cousin applied too. So yes, I did managed to apply at the very last minute and of course, was hoping to get it since I spent my time mostly thinking about it instead of revising my beloved Biology. And I even argued with my parents on which courses should I take. Probably that is the reason why I happen to ‘come across’ with this ‘fate’. -.-’

Then on the 29th of January, I received my A Level results.

I scored an ‘X’, for my… beloved Biology? o.o

See. How ironic is that? Of course, there was a follow up. Due to that, my scholarship was …rejected? despite I have, kind of, passed the interview? Actually I do understand why but I was just being indenial and all, and irritated. The problem was not the scholarship, it was the university. I know. The university have requirements and I had not met their requirements since I was lacking a ‘B’. They needed at least BBB. But hell, from my breakdowns, I should ACTUALLY be getting a ‘B’ instead of the ‘X’.

The reason to why that happened was that SOME EXAM SECTION TEACHER apparently typed in the WRONG CODE for my Biology paper and led to my AS not being carried forward to November 2008. Which equals to an ‘X’ or a ‘NO RESULT’ in my statement of results and a BYEBYE to my chance of going to Otago.

Yes, I know. You would probably think that it was not a big deal since I can still apply for UK or OZ. But you see, it would have been easier if I got it – I don’t have to write a personal statement and find a place (for UK universities) and plus, for my course, there is this NHS thing. I cannot apply to a place where it is NHS funded and I just knew that AFTER I submit my UCAS application. But thank goodness, only one of the universities that I applied to rejected me because of that, and the university was one of my ‘back-ups’ so it did not really matter.

Anyhoo, it was a rough but memorable experience to go back and forth to the board of examination and the scholarship unit and to deal with the high authorities there. After 1 month and 11 days, my final results were finally out. As expected, I did scored another ‘B’ so it was really a pity that I should have been getting the scholarship, thanks to that certain EXAM SECTION TEACHER. Gah! Enough Z. But now I think twice about it, maybe it was really fate. Maybe He wanted me to explore the bigger picture. Who knows.

So now that I have my final results and have e-mailed the universities’ admission officers, my conditional offers will hopefully changed to a full offer shortly. I do hope I get Bradford.

I made this wordpress journal due to sudden excitement of uhm… blogging? I do have a blogger account but I kind of abandoned it for some reasons. I have been sitting in front of the PC for only God knows how long – but enough to strain my eyes. When I go online, I have the tendency to ‘blogsearch’ – not that I stalk people or something – but to read other people’s experiences and ‘adventures’ in their lives SINCE I do not think that I have any to begin with. Just a few hours ago, I read a blog, owned by a local Bruneian girl who wrote about her journey of being a scholar and she is now in the UK, pursuing her first degree.

In Brunei, being a scholar is really a big deal. I remember my GP teacher, Miss Yani, mentioned the The Bruneian Dream: one, own houses, two, luxurious cars and three, having a scholar in the family. I actually think that it was hilarious because its true! But it only applies to average families lah.

I adore talented people.
